Matunda walk 2012
After the success of the first Matunda walk last year, we are holding a sequel on September 9.
The start is at the ferryboat house in Varik (The Netherlands) (www.veerhuis-varik.nl). Hikers will be welcomed starting at 10:00AM with coffee and cake. After that you take the ferry to the other side of the river, where the walk starts.
The first ferry
The first ferry leaves at 10.30AM, which is the start of the first group. The ferry can carry 40 people, so waiting should be at a minimum.
The trip takes around 25 minutes round trip, but in the meantime you can visit the historic Varik tower, next to the ferryboat house, which will be open.
The area
The walk is in a beautiful and varied area around the village Heerewaarden (www.heerewaarden.info) and is on easily walked paths. The course is 12 kilometers, but can be lengthened or shortened at will.
Should you wish to bike the course, this is also possible. Dogs are allowed, if on a leash.
No lunch, but a buffet
For logistic reasons, you are requested to bring your own lunch with this year. On the other side, there will be a delicious buffet at the finish in the barn at Hennie and Adrie de Vrij’s, who were so hospitable to open their doors again this year.
More instructions and a map will be handed out at the parking lot on arrival. Admission for the walk and the buffet is €17.50 per person.
Registration
Please register before September 2 by e-mail at info@matunda.nl, telling us how many people will be coming. The registration fee can be transferred to the Matunda account, 57.40.93.117, with the note “Matunda walk”.
We are hoping for a large turnout and hope to see you then.
